You can’t get toned if you don’t have muscle to tone!?!? Get it? So do your weights! Eat clean! Training can not out do your shitty diet! I have tried dieting with a calorie limit and eating anything an everything that fit in it! Which meant if I had 100 cals left so I would have bread? Yeah sounds like you? No stop that! I then tried dieting to fit my MACROS and work in my left over calories according to the carbs, fats and protein I had left for the day! And waahhhlaaaaa the Picture on my right is better then my left because of that Reason! Myfitnesspal is a great app to log your calories and macros!
